The World According to the Peevish Kitty

Dentist

I’m off to the dentist again this morning, which is not anyone’s idea of a good time. And since they’ll be sticking things under my gums AGAIN to measure how deep the pockets are, it’s certainly NOT MINE.

A conversation from last night:

Me: I have a dentist’s appointment tomorrow morning.
BDH: Wow. You go to the dentist more often than anybody I know.
Me: Yes. That’s right. That’s so when I am sixty, I won’t have big gaps where my teeth ought to be.
BDH: I fully support that.

  1. Also? You will not be amongst the irritating old-ish type people who are fighting miserably over that LAST pistachio pudding.

    In and of itself?

A good place to be, I think.

  2. I also went to the dentist yesterday. I am over sixty and guess what I am in for? Implants!!!!! I must admit that it is a scary thought to have a strange and unfamiliar object inserted into your mouth and find it is nothing to the dentist to even suggest it to me. In my early days if you had a tooth ache or a problem that couldn’t be fixed within your means it was pulled. Which is what happened to me. Root canals were never thought of at that time and might I add was not within our means. Things change and it seems that it is not a big deal to do it now. (to the dentist that is) I have had a root canal done four fillings and now implants and six crowns. This all comes AFTER our insurance ran out when Dad retired. Can I say that this really makes me peevish (to put it mildly)since I asked my FORMER dentist if there was any work to be done a year before our insurance was to run out. Does this make me a little peevish? I think not. I’m darn right Piss—————-ed. Am I allowed to say that? Sorry about that BDH but I just had to vent some of my anger.

  3. Oooooh! Mom’s on the warpath! Look out dentists!

(I don’t envy you. It makes getting things stuck under my gums sound like a walk in the park.)
