It’s Stinkerbelle’s first week of summer holidays with NOTHING TO DO. No school, no swimming, nothing. Nada. Nyet. Bupkus.

So, when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.

I took That Girl to the store, and let her choose some nail polish. Whatever colour she wanted.

She’s FOUR. She chose PURPLE. Like, really really PURPLE purple.

And I painted her fingers and toes.

Of course, then she insisted, I had to paint mine, too. So I did. Because that is what moms do. And have done since… well, probably since the invention of nail polish.

It’s okay. I may look a prat right now with my purple nails. But the joy it gives her makes it worthwhile. Well, that, and the knowledge that in ten years time, just BEING OUT IN PUBLIC WITH ME will embarrass her like whoa, makes it even more so.

It’s the little things in life, really.

  1. Ten years? Pfft. Don’t sell yourself short. You can embarrass her in 6. Or fewer, if you put your mind to it.

    Your nails look fantastic, btw.

  2. Looks fab on both of you! I have almost that exact colour on my toes right now. Given up on the fingers though, all day keyboarding is death to manicures, or at least to the crappy kind I do myself.

  3. Well you two have me thinking about my nails of late. I always took the time when I was younger to do my nails, eyebrows and something special to my hair and a long bath every Thursday night . It was my night to pamper myself. Lately I can’t be bothered because the gardens and cleaning and whatever making me think “why “it will be ruined by tomorrow.
Today I bought some bright red nail polish and have just finished doing my finger nails and toe nails. Wow are they ever taking my attention. All I see is red. I will let you know if I can keep it on.
