We’re on vacation! Whee! And I’ve been taking a little time away from Teh Interwebs and enjoying… doing a lot of nothing. But even still, there are things to say.
I confess…
- …that I’ve parked my butt on a lawn chair on the deck and knit a couple of times so far this week, and it has been lovely. The weather has cooperated for the past two days and it has been pleasant and warm. Just nice for sitting outside.
- …that even though we are on holiday, I am still feeling very tired. I think it takes me a few days to unwind and crash and get rested when I take a vacation.
- …that my MIL makes OMG AWESOME MUFFINS.
- …that I am wondering if I might have left my bedroom window open at home.
- …that I want to nap, and I am tired enough to nap, but I am not a good napper. In fact, as part of my sleep disorder, I am a terrible napper. And I fear that if I lie down to nap I’ll just be worse off when I wake up. But OMG WANT TO SLEEEEEP.
- …that I was so happy that Stinkerbelle remembered Grammy and Grandad and their house and all kinds of things from our last visit. She was dancing with excitement from the moment she saw them at the airport, and hasn’t stopped.
- …that we’ve been fighting the good fight with That Girl’s eating/oral motor issues for two years now, and we’re finally making some progress. But it’s nice to have someone else see the difficulties she has for a change, because when you parent in a vacuum, you begin to think you’re imagining or exaggerating these things. So it has been validating to have people around to see not just the problems but the progress we’re making.
- …that I have pastrami issues. I think pastrami is a good thing IN THEORY, but as it turns out, in practice, I am not a big fan. The problem is, I never remember that until I am eating a pastrami sandwich. And then it is too late.
- …that coffee this week has been SO TASTY with vanilla creamer. I have missed it.
- …that I broke down in tears this week when I realized I have passed on one of my biggest faults, one of the things about myself that I am most embarrassed of, to my daughter. And so it begins.
- …that I just bought a buttload of sale yarn at the Going Out of Business Yarn Store, and all I can think is WANT MOAR YARN NAO PLZ KTHXBAI. It’s terrible. I’m a yarn magpie.
- …that I was more than a little excited when I read that Target stores are coming to Canada. NEXT WEEK OMG.
- …that I have been letting Stinkerbelle watch as much PBS Kids TV as she wants this week, since we don’t have TV at home. Or, for that matter, a fantastically large awesome TV like Grammy and Grandad do, either. She stands in front of it, basking in the glow of Curious George and Sesame Street every morning.
- …that I am more excited than a grown up should be about the prospect of watching Doctor Who on said magical giant TV when it is actually, really broadcast this week, as opposed to on a little screen and on YouTube.
