It is Friday of what has been, strangely, a long week. Not a bad week, but a tiring one, for whatever reason. But now BDH has vacation time booked until the end of the month, so we will be able to relax and unwind and catch up on our rest. So that’s good.
But that is not what is important today! Oh no. It is Friday, and so I confess:
- …that one of the things I hate most in life is getting up in the morning. By the time the sun is beginning to come up, I am just getting into some deep, good sleep, so Sleep Disorder Girl does NOT want to get up when the alarm goes off. I really struggle.
- …that my morning struggle is made worse by the fact that I am not drinking my regular coffee-with-vanilla-creamer in the morning. I ran out of creamer last week, and the store we go to does not seem to stock it anymore. But the truth is, I am trying to have less of it. I am looking to do a little better with my eating habits this spring, and sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. And two giant buckets o’ coffee full of creamer each day? Might be a good place to start. So, we’ll see. I may cave pretty soon, because OMG LOVE MY COFFEE. But it’s a choice between food calories/carbs or coffee and creamer calories/carbs right now, so… Meh. Who am I kidding. it won’t last.
- …that I have to go downstairs and do my time on the elliptical, but I do not want to. The thought of exercising, and getting all sweaty and gross, and huffing and puffing like a hamster on a wheel… does not sound like fun to me. I’ll be fine once I get going, but right now, I am tired and just want to sleep.
- … that we got our quote for the roof, and it’s not too bad, actually. Mostly in the ballpark of what we were expecting. Now we just have to get off our procrastinating arses and book it. You know, actually COMMIT to it.
- …that I went out this morning with That Girl and went to the Going-Out-Of-Business Yarn Store again. And I bought another big honking bag o’ yarny goodness. Some of which we got specially for a snuggly blankie for Tova’s Joy.
- …that the problem with shopping at the Going-Out-Of-Business Yarn Store is that the stock is being quickly bought up, and the colour I wanted was almost gone. And I have a hard time thinking on my feet with a bored three-year-old in a hot, busy store. Especially when said three-year-old is taking any and every skein of yarn she can get her little hands on off the shelves and dropping it in my basket when I am not looking. So I bought all they had, and hopefully I got enough… else it may be a small-ish blanket.
- …that I let Stinkerbelle choose a yarn for herself this morning, for a blanket. Which was an orange-ish, speckly, fuzzy-ish kind of acrylic business. I honestly considered buying it for her, I really did — until I thought “how the hell am I going to knit with that?” And also WASHING = RUNNING DYE NIGHTMARE. So I bailed. Already with the breaking of the promises! Oh, the therapy bills in the future! MOM FAIL. But at least all our laundry won’t come out orange for the next few years.
- …that I wish the weather would just COMMIT and BE WARM full time. Because right now, I am surrounded by laundry baskets full of Stinkerbelle’s summer clothes. Which I cannot put away because the weather is still iffy enough that she needs warm clothes, and they are all in her drawers. So I have nowhere to put all the summer stuff until I get rid of the warm stuff. So, while I am drowning in laundry, at least it is all CLEAN laundry.
- …that our favourite farm market is once again open full-time hours until late in the fall. And that I am so looking forward to buying produce there. However, the baked goods are too good to resist, so we have to learn to lay off.
- …that I want a hammock. One of those nice ones on a stand. Maybe under a pergola. Yeah. And I want to be out laying in it right now, gently rocking and dozing in the sun, under the pretense of reading a book.
You could always opt for Baileys in your coffee in the morning – that should kick start ya and make the elliptical that much more fun!
@Rana — And if I walked everywhere, no worries about driving! Oh wait… can you get nabbed for drunk stroller-pushing?
Ummmm..so far I haven’t been nabbed so nope, don’t think so
@Rana — I suppose if you’re not stumbling along in high heels with drinks in hand like Patsy and Edina, you’re probably fine.
Oh, am I NOT supposed to do that? Well I count myself lucky for not getting caught yet!
Mabye it’s because I don’t DO highheels so I have gone under the radar thus far….
@Rana — OH! Sweetie! Sweetie! That’s it!
Thank you for making me laugh, cough and bawl all at once. Thank you for the buying of yarn in good faith that Joy is coming home. Sniffle.
And yes, if you wear high heels and drink while pushing a stroller, you are in TROUBLE. Unless the drinking is out of a coffee cup. Also, parenting tip of the day, all future elementary music concerts can be survived with a coffee mug with alcohol in them. Tried and true.
@Tova — Of course I have faith. And now, I have nice soft cotton yarn, too. In a colour to (I hope) match the colours you chose for her room.
Oh, and the video you linked to me made me laugh so hard. Thanks for that. You are right though, NOT SAFE!
@Tova — SO not safe. But SO hilarious.
Oooo… I’ve always wanted a hammock
It’s on my dream list!
Just thought I would stop in and say hi, and see how Stinkerbelle is doing! Oh – and you too
Cheers!

@Nicky — A hammock would be awesome. Then I wouldn’t have to stagger anywhere!
And… Hi!
I’m with Rana, go for the Baileys in the morning. You will be fine to drive by noon.
@Kendra — Just in time for That Girl’s naptime! Perfect!
I believe there is some Baileys in the cupboard if you are interested also some vanilla coffee creamer in the fridge. (fat free if that is a requirement) High heels and Baileys not recommended, OH and a stroller, I don’t think so. Of course there would be a back up sitter if needed in this part of the world.
@Grammy — Well that sounds perfect! It’s a date!
of course the martini glass in hand might tip them off….
