Friday Fun: Get Busy, Yo

We have a busy weekend ahead of us.

Tonight, we pick up one of our players who is staying with us this evening while her parents take her younger sister to a tournament at Penn State. Tomorrow, we take our athlete to the High Performance camp in Toronto, which runs all day. Sunday, we were hoping to go to a cat show. And, to top it off, this weekend Canada hosts Finland in volleyball, and it’s on TV… so maybe if I can find a TV that has cable…

So much to do! So today’s Friday Fun is about being busy.

  1. What’s the busiest day of the week for you?
  2. What’s your favourite way to relax after a busy day?
  3. On a typical weekend, do you prefer to be busy and have a lot of things scheduled, or do you prefer to leave it loose and plan as little as possible?
  4. What’s your favourite quick and easy meal? (fast food doesn’t count!)
  5. What’s your favourite fast food? (guilty pleasures rock!)
  6. How do you stay organized: checking calendars, making lists, or scheduling online reminders?
  7. Are there any busy, crowded places that you like to visit?
  8. Who cuts the grass at your house?
  9. If you could give up one chore foreverandeveramen, and someone else would have to do it, what would it be?
  10. Tell me honestly, what do you think of my new garden spade?

Alrighty people. Get busy, yo. Give me some fun things to read in between all the running around. It’s been so quiet in here recently… And lurkers, time to come out of lurkdom!

I’ll post… well, when I get a second to post.

  1. I can’t believe that I might just be the first one to answer!

    1. Believe it or not but Sunday seems to be my busiest day right now. I want to jam it full of things to do before Monday.

    2. I love going for walks, bubble baths, having a glass of red wine. Just talking.

    3. I like to have one or two things planned for each day and then fill in the blanks as the day progresses. Actually now that I think about it I probably like not having anything planning. One Labour Day weekend 10 years ago we did not plan anything and we ended up going to see a Sinead O’Connor concert in Toronto. It was perhaps one of the best concerts I have been to. Very emotional because Princess Diana just died and Sinead talked a bit about that.

    4. I love pasta – just chopping up tomatoes and adding a bit of oil and garlic and tossing it altogether. With a bit of freshly grated cheese on top – yum!

    5. Taco Time but there aren’t any around here! That is one of my first stops when I go to Thunder Bay.

    6. For work I have an online calendar and for home I use a regular calendar because it makes it easier for everyone to see what is going on. I used to write everyone’s birthday on it at the beginning of the year so that I wouldn’t forget but I stopped doing that. I think that I will get back into that habit.

    7. I love going to Toronto for the day – or any busy city for that matter. I love looking at all the people.

    8. Take turns. WE both love doing it. It’s my turn today.

    9. Vacuuming – is that how you spell it?

    10. Love it! I just might come over and borrow it for the summer.

Sorry, nothing funny here. Have a great weekend!

  2. YAY! Look who’s first!

You ARE funny! Say, if you and D. are both so all-fired good at mowing the lawn AND you love doing it… I know BDH would be willing to give up doing our lawn for you! He would do that for you… it’s just the kind of giving person he is, you know… 😉

    2. Sleep if I can get it. Mostly reading. Been reading a LOT this week.
    3. Because I’m poor it’s as little as possible.
    4. Chicken burgers, stir-fry or hot dogs. Depends on my mood.
    5. Um… sometimes we get pizza. I don’t really like fast food. No, wait. Does take out Chinese count?
    6. Lately, I just don’t.
    7. No.
    8. Me. Or the yard guy. I prefer to do it, and I’m hoping this summer I can get back to it myself.
    9. Scheduling and executing vehicle maintenance.
    10. It’s getting the job done, right?

  6. 1. Sunday – Sunday School, Church, lunch, Work, family time, then getting kids ready for school on Monday.
    2. Bedtime. Reading for a few minutes and just catching my breath. If I have time, knitting in front of the TV but that is a very rare thing. I am usually so tired I just stare at the TV forgetting exactly what I watched with my knitting still untouched in my hands.
    3. Weekends I prefer loose and unplanned. If I look at my calendar and there is something scheduled on a weekend, I get very frazzled.
    4. Spaghettini with sauce from a can, add some mushroom, cooked hamburger and sprinkle with real grated parmesan cheese. Add a storemade salad if I have one and voila.
    5. Poutine and grilled chicken breast sandwich.
    6. If it is not on my super large calendar in the kitchen, it does not exist. Daily work gets done with lists. I love coloring my little boxes. I feel like I got something done.
    7. No.
    8. Hubby.
    9. Dishes.
    10. It is lovely….what exactly does it do?

  7. So busy around here it’s taken me to Sunday to reply. :S

    1. Monday – start of the work week. Loads of photocopying and duty on that day to prep for the rest of the week. Fridays a close second with all the stuff to mark from the week.
    2. I like to sit in front of my computer read comics and drink a nice frosty glass of Pepsi. Those days are few and far between now as my days are much longer with Rachel. Usually I’m too tired to pour the pop or boot up the computer.
    3. Loose and undefined. Plans usually creep in but mostly last minute. Teaching is so scheduled that we like to free-form it on the weekends.
    4. Macaroni and Hamburger. Cook the mac, fry the meat through in some onions and Campbell’s Tomato Soup and you’re golden. Makes lots of leftovers for lunch the next day too. 🙂
    5. Dixie Lee Fried Chicken
    6. The old noodle on my head most of the time though I am getting into google calendar.
    7. Movie Theatre
    8. Use to be me. My gift to myself this year is to have someone else do it.
    9. Cleaning the litter box.
    10. I think Spade is lovely. Hey, I have to call a spade a spade, after all. 😉

  8. Well, now that we’re home and relaxing, I guess it’s time for me to post my answers.

    1. I suppose it’s Saturdays when we plan a bunch of things to do…
    2. I like to read before bed. Or watch a video.
    3. I prefer a quiet weekend puttering around doing… stuff.
    4. Roasted chicken and potatoes.
    5. I think I like take-our sushi the best. But since I can’t get it readily here, I’d settle for Swiss Chalet.
    6. I have everything on my computer. Of course.
    7. I like markets. As long as parking is not a problem. Actually, I don’t mind busy places as long as there’s no driving or parking involved. I guess that’s why I liked Japan so much — everything by train.
    8. My Big Damn Hero. I’m allergic to grass.
    9. I’d have to say pulling the weeds out of the back garden. Then perhaps cleaning the cat litter.
    10. I’ll let you know when I start using it. But it LOOKS fabulous.

  9. Sorry Christian, your comment somehow got caught in the spam filter, like Sherri’s did last week. Meh, this technology stuff ain’t perfect…
